JAMMU, Dec 6: Terming the issue of daily wagers a symbol of failure of successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir, State spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and member of media coordination committee, Appu Singh today said that now BJP and LG administration are also pushing these workers to the corner and there is no one in the Government set up to listen to their genuine demands.
Appu Singh was addressing a press Conference in the Party’s Jammu office. She said in a number of judgments of courts, SROs of Government and other circulars, emphasis has been laid to redress the genuine issue of daily wagers but overall performance of successive governments in J&K on this issue remained zero.
“Leaders of a political party accuse leaders of other political parties for this issue and this game of allegations between leaders of different political parties is going on since decades but not even a single political party or Government ever bothered to solve the issue,” Appu Singh said.
“Thousands of daily wagers especially of power development department have died so far while performing duties and things are so worse that a number of daily wagers have committed suicide as they are unable to run family affairs but there is no concern from Government even after these deaths which shows that Government is completely insensitive towards the issue,” Appu said.
She further mentioned that J&K Government and especially Lieutenant Governor himself should intervene in the matter and the issue should be taken as a humanitarian issue and resolved at the earliest.
Appu also mentioned about a solid policy of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi which has ended the plight of daily wagers and said that only AAP can end the woes of daily wagers in J&K as it is the only political platform that provides pro public, accountable and clean Government.
