CWC reunites speech-hearing impaired boy with family

JAMMU, July 18: Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) on sixth of this month found a 13 year old speech and hearing impaired boy at Jammu railway station crying helplessly on the platform and handed him to Child Helpdesk.
The boy was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Jammu same day and he could express through his actions that he desperately wanted to go home.
However, infirmity of the child hindered him to convey his problem and till inquiry the boy was given shelter at government shelter home for boys in Gandhi Nagar. Information of the child was shared with various Childlines of other States but his origin could not be traced.
A meeting of the boy was arranged with Roshan Bhan, Principal Deaf and Dumb School Jammu who communicated with the boy through sign language and with his help, Child Welfare Committee found that he belonged to Varanasi.
Soon Childline Varanasi was contacted and the family of the boy was traced which was searching the boy since July 3.
A missing report was also filed by the family of the boy after they failed to trace him.
The family reached Jammu today to take custody of the boy.
The boy identified his family members and after verification of documents, custody of the child was given to the family.
