UDHAMPUR, July 18: Week-long Handball activities, organised by Kargil Martyrs’ Handball Club under the aegis of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and supported by Arun Sharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust, concluded, here today.
The week-long activities was organised as part of the 75th anniversary of the International Handball Federation (IHF), wherein various activities for senior, junior and young boys and girls were held at Mini Stadium Handball Court, here.
DYSSO Udhampur, Sawran Singh was chief guest, while DySP Railways and former Handball player, Naresh Sharma were guests of honour and Inspector Dheeraj Nagpal, Rita Devi Raina (PEL) and Inspector and international player, Akshay Khajuria, Sub-Inspector Ashish Sharma and Sahil Padha also graced the event.
Speaking to the gathering, Naresh Sharma recalled old days when he used to practice at Mini Stadium Parade under the guidance of Arun Sharma. He appreciated the team of coaches Karun Magotra (NIS coach), Rishi Sharma and Vipan Photora, Sourav Pandit and Ravi, who have volunteered themselves at the Mini Stadium Handball Ground.
Earlier, Ashutosh Sharma received the distinguished guests and introduced the Handball players with the young ones. The exhibition match was played between the Jammu team and Udhampur team, wherein latter won the match in a close contest.
Prominent players including Rajeshwar Singh, Chandan Singh, Gourav Sharma, Rohit Vadan, Rajat Khajuria, Nitin Sharma, Rakesh Dogra and Kartar Dogra were also present during the event.
