JAMMU, Apr 20: Agriculture Minister, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora said that culture creates a sense of belongingness among the people and with its power of cohesiveness it has potential to unite the people.
Speaking on a felicitation function organized Radio Sharda and Pir Panchal to felicitate him and newly nominated MLC Surinder Mohan Ambardar, the Minister asked the people to adhere to the cultural values taught by great saints and sofis from time to time.
Mr Lone explained the richness in the teachings of mystic poetess, a saintly lady and a great Shiviat Lal Ded and Sheikh -ul-Aalam who is popularly known as Nund Rishi.
He appealed the gathering to adhere to their roots and strengthen the Kashmiri language among the younger generations. The Minister commended the efforts of Ramesh Hangloo for establishing the Radio Sharda for catering to the linguistic and cultural values of all sections of the State.
The function was presided over by Prof B L Zutshi and Mr Hangloo the founder of Radio Sharda was also on dais.
Addressing the gathering Surinder Ambardar called upon the displaced Pandits from Valley to have focus on Kashmir and think positively of return. The BJP is looking towards this issue positively and it will have consultations with the community representatives over the issue, he added.
Ambardar while terming the mass exodus of minorities from the Valley a catastrophe of history said that Lal Ded and Nund Rishi were the two pillars of Kashmiriyat. With the mass exodus Lal Ded is out of Kashmir and one pillar which is there has also been infiltrated. The serious efforts are needed to restore this character of Kashmir, he added.
Prof B L Zuthsi gave full details of the 5000 year old history of Kashmir and added we ought to teach our next generations about it.
Ramesh Hangloo said that language is the important factor in making civilizations live long and strengthen their roots. “ We all in Sharda Radio and Pir Panchal are committed to propagate the language and give the younger generation sense of belongingness.
On the occasion a musical presentation was given by Pupo Raj Musical Group, Shanti Lal Sidh and the children of Radio Sharda. The children of musical group were felicitated by the Minister.
The programme was attended by Prem Nath Shad, A K Naz, J L Sarore,  P N Shad  and Vijay Koul general secretary Pir Panchal.
Kailash Mehra Sadhu, Behari Kak, M L Saraf, J K Raina, Asha Zaroo, Mukesh Kumar, Adarsh Anand, Anju  Raina, Kamal Ganjoo and others were also present.
