JAMMU, May 2: The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) will start Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate courses in Translation in Hindi-English and vice-versa from the academic session of 2021.
Head of the Hindi Department, Prof. Rasal Singh said that Prof. Ashok Aima, CUJ Vice Chancellor has approved and the registrar has notified the translation courses.
A handout stated that there will be unlimited jobs for translators after the passing of JK Official Languages Act-2020. Local youth will get enormous employment opportunities by this skill oriented course for which 50 seats have been kept by CUJ.
Prof. Rasal Singh further said that students with bachelor degrees can apply for these courses and they will be charged Rs. 8000 as fee for Diploma in translation and Rs. 5000 for Certificate.
He said, after passing first semester students will get Certificate and after passing the second semester they will get Diploma and in the current circumstances the course will be on online mode only.
At present admissions can be taken on the basis of merit of graduation results and online interaction instead of entrance wherein online entrance/graduation merit and interaction ratio will be 70:30.
The course is in tune with the New Education Policy-2020 which focuses on skill enhancement of youth.
Prof Singh further said that the department plans to start translation courses in other Indian languages like Dogri, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Urdu etc.
