CUJ organizes workshop on school leadership development

JAMMU, Feb 1: The Centre for the Teacher Resource and Academic Support, School of Education, Central University of Jammu, under PMMMNMT  in collaboration with National Centre for School Leadership, Department of School and Non-Formal Education, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA),  organised training workshop for DIET Principals and Lecturers here today.
The purpose of the workshop was  to enable principals from DIET to critically examine their leadership roles and building knowledge, skills and attitude required for transforming schools through leadership. Around 55 principals and lecturers from various DIETs of Jammu division participated in the workshop.
The workshop was graced with presence of  Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of CUJ  Prof  Lokesh Verma, Head & Dean, School of Education, CUJ, Dr  Kashyapi Awasthi, NUEPA, Dr  J  N  Baliya, Dr  Ritu Bakshi, Dr Kiran and Dr  Aman Bhardwaj, faculty members of  School of Education, CUJ.
Prof  Ashok Aima,  in presidential address, stressed on developing competence and leadership qualities in teacher educators as they are the powerful agents who have enormous influence on the minds of young students in particular and society on the whole.
Dr Kashyapi Awasthi,  resource person of the day,  highlighted roles and responsibilities of DIET teachers and how can they be the leader in transforming education. She further added that the role of teacher extends beyond the classroom to complex social system and if they have ample decisive and leadership skills they can bring positive change in the society. Various activities were also conducted by the resource person through which these skills can be inculcated in the teachers.
Prof  Lokesh Verma, in his welcome address,  highlighted the need of leadership qualities in principals as they are the prime mover and motivator for teachers at the school level.
Dr  Ritu Bakshi and Dr  Kiran,  compered the proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks was presented by Dr  J N  Baliya.
