JAMMU, Mar 19: Centre for Molecular Biology in Central University of Jammu has bagged grant of Rs 1.8 crores by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India to augment the laboratory facilities and promote high quality teaching and research.
The Centre for Molecular Biology (CMB), CUJ came into existence in 2016 and within a short span of its establishment, the Centre has mobilized around one crore research grant in the form of extramural funding from various funding agencies such as UGC, DST, ICMR, DST, DBT etc and developed state of the art research labs for carrying out cutting edge research in frontier areas of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.
Presently, the Centre, headed by Prof Mushtaq Ahmed as the Director , offers PhD and DBT supported M Sc programmes in Biotechnology. The M Sc programme in Biotechnology is a new start for a great future ahead providing more opportunity to the students across the country to pursue a promising career in Biotechnology.
