JAMMU, Jan 6: Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) submitted a memorandum to Union Defence Minister , Rajnath Singh at Ram Leela Maidan, New Delhi during a programme today.
Expressing gratitude for abolishing Toll tax on goods ,Neeraj Anand, president CTF, who is leading a 30 member delegation from Jammu and Kashmir , on behalf of the Trading community handed over the Memorandum to Rajnath Singh at the inaugural function of 3- day long All India Traders conclave.
The memorandum seeks fiscal incentives besides lists various suggestions for boosting Trade in Jammu and Kashmir.
They pointed out that the newly formed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is in transformation stage and business environment had not been conducive for trade due to pre-emptive restrictions put in place to counter adversaries from across the border. Though CTF relieved about security situation that has stabilized to a larger extent but business in general has suffered a lot and would require special incentives and concessions for its revival. The CTF demands immediate package to help stakeholders like growers, Cold Storage owners, transporters and traders of Jammu and Kashmir.
Immediate relief can be provided to all stakeholders by way of interest waiver and rescheduling of loan installments, deferring payment of all sort of levies etc.
Again, food and beverage dealers have suffered more due to expiry of stocks as elements inimical to peace prevented traders to open shops at many places, CTF seeks Govt intervention to encourage engagement with FMCG and food companies for resolving this issue.
Federation further drew the attention towards important remedial measures required to push economy and to arrest migration of trade dependent local youth. It said being consuming state, Trade policy on lines of Industrial Policy be framed to help entrepreneurs increase Trade activity in J&K.
They also demanded that State level Trade Board be formulated and augmented well by formation of District level trade committees. Store Procurement Department (SPD) may immediately be allowed to procure key account material for Govt Departments to increase transparency as well as business. New Wholesale/retail Markets be setup at the upcoming Ring Road to decongest existing markets besides to provide livelihood opportunities for youth.
Large industries (mother Industries) that can support existing small units in the State should be set up. Any incentive/Package envisaged for the new units may kindly be extended to the existing industrial units also, the CTF members pleaded.
