CTF delegation meets Commissioner Commercial Taxes

JAMMU, July 12: Concerned over the shifting of business to neighboring states due to various loopholes in J&K trade scenario, especially the continuation of Toll Tax on Goods, a delegation of Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) led by its President, Neeraj Anand called upon Commissioner Commercial Taxes, M. Raju.
The delegation informed the Commissioner about various problems being faced by the dealers of J&K and how common masses in J&K are paying a higher price than rest of the India.
“Continuation of Toll Tax on goods in Jammu and Kashmir has grossly affected the genuine traders. The impact is more for all the items of use in construction activities like cement, electrical goods, sanitary goods, plywood etc,” said Anand.
The CTF President further said that prices of few more items increased after the last budget hiked Toll Tax.
He further said that role of some unscrupulous elements has further led to hike in the prices.
Anand apprehended that in all probability the resultant effect shall also be found in the loss of revenue to the exchequer.
Expressing anguish at the casual approach of the elected ruling dispensation which was approached many times, Anand appealed the GST Commissioner to take up the issue with Governor, N.N Vohra for favorable and sympathetic decision in the matter.
Prominent among those present in the deputation were S. Attar Singh, Vinodh Sachdeva, Kailash Nath Nagar, S. Balwinder Singh, Parag Abrol, Dinesh Gupta and Raman Gupta.
