CT Insp among 4 suspended

REASI, Oct 19: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today caught officials of Commercial Taxes Department red handed while taking bribe from drivers near Domail on Katra-Jammu road and subsequently Excise Commissioner Kifayat Hussain Rizivi placed four officials under suspension and ordered enquiry to be conducted by Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes.
The Deputy Commissioner found a number of vehicles haphazardly parked on the highway and guards taking money from drivers near Domail. Upon enquiry, the drivers informed that money was being demanded by men in uniform. From some officials bribe amount was seized by the Deputy Commissioner himself and the information was conveyed to Excise Commissioner, who placed all the officials under suspension with immediate effect.
The suspended officials are Inspector Amandeep Singh, Sub-Inspector Abdul Rehman and Gaurds Mohit Sharma and Mohd Rustam. None of the officials was in proper uniform or wearing proper nameplate badge. The Inspector was suspended for negligence of duty and others for indulging in corrupt practices.
Taking serious note of corrupt practices being adopted in transport management, the Deputy Commissioner has issued directions for surprise check at various locations.
