UDHAMPUR/REASI/RAMBAN, Apr 30: Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey reviewed the physical and financial achievements recorded against various sectors, besides status of implementation of State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban districts.
At Udhampur, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal through a power point presentation, gave resume of ongoing developmental activities and projects completed in the district during the last fiscal.
The meeting was told that against the last year’s annual plan outlay of Rs 7227.41 lakh, an expenditure of Rs 7184.43 lakh was recorded which works out to be 99.41 percent. The meeting held a detailed discussion on sectors having the potential to accelerate economic development and employment generation.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary stressed the need to lay focus on market intervention schemes in agriculture and its allied sectors. He called for taping the huge employment potential in the traditional rural trades through introduction of modern techniques.
The Chief Secretary instructed for ensuring timeline completion of the projects and directed R&B functionaries to make additional efforts to complete vital road projects including Udhampur to Basantgarh and Udhampur to Dudu at the earliest.
At Reasi, the Chief Secretary reviewed developmental projects and interacted with heads of various departments, district and sectoral officers.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary gave a power point presentation on Annual Plan performance, centrally sponsored schemes, various issues faced by the departments and fresh proposals under Tourism, Irrigation, PHE and other sectors.
The Chief Secretary directed Chief Engineer PDD to address the issue of buffer stock of transformers and establishment of workshop at Reasi. He instructed Chief Engineers of PHE and PWD for expediting works on water supply and completion of road networks.
Mr Khandey directed the DDC to ensure sufficient drinking water supply and power supply during summer season. Expressing concern over slow pace of work on roads being constructed by the BRO he instructed the DDC to ensure immediate completion of Katra-Reasi and Reasi-Mahore road and also settle all pending land acquisition cases.
Appreciating the efforts of DDC about ensuring attendance of officers at headquarters, he directed that salary of all such absentees should be withheld and treasury officer directed accordingly. Mr Khandey also instructed the DDC to ensure that officers frequently tour remote areas for redressal of public grievances.
Later, a number of deputations called on the Chief Secretary highlighting various issued related to power supply, forest clearance, creation of Tehsil in Arnas, construction of NHPC road, land compensation, need for cable car from Sula Park to Bhimgarh fort and issues related to town planning in Shiv Khori area. The Chief Secretary gave them a patient hearing and instructed the officers for redressal of these grievances.
Earlier, Chief Secretary today visited District Headquarter Ramban and reviewed the performance made by various departments.
District Development Commissioner, S V Meena made a power point presentation and apprised that under Annual District Plan 2012-13 against an approved outlay of Rs 6870.54 lakh an amount of Rs 5712.32 lakh was released till ending March 2013 and an expenditure of Rs 5707.99 lakh was incurred which works out to 99.92 percent against the net availablity.
Mr Khanday also met various deputations in Banihal and Ramban, who projected number of issues before him to which he gave a patient hearing. He assured that early redressal of their genuine grievances will be made on priority.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pardeep Gupta, Director Health Services Dr Madhu Khullar, Director School Education G A Qureshi, Chief Engineer R&B Tehsin Mustafa and Chief Engineer PDD Shehnaz Goni were accompanying the Chief Secretary to the visit of these districts.
