JAMMU, Feb 28: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today reviewed the progress of the 330-MW Kishanganga HEP being constructed in Gurez area of Bandipora district, which has reached its final stages of commissioning.
Commissioner/Secretary Revenue, Secretary PHE and I&FC, MD JKSPDC and other senior officers were present. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, DC Bandipora, Chief Engineer, I&FC and NHPC Authorities participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The implementation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Plan of the project affected families was discussed in the meeting besides progress of work on the treatment of Madhumati and Bonar Nallah to improve its discharge capacity and to protect the Nallah boundaries against high discharge was also reviewed.
The 330 MW Kishanganga HEP envisages diversion of river Kishanganga from Gurez valley into an underground powerhouse with 3 units of 110 MW each and discharging the tail water in Wullar Lake.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary chaired a meeting to discuss the modalities towards operationalization of Phase-1 of the Srinagar Water Transport System.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Secretary, PHE and I&FC, Anuj Malhotra Traffic Advisor, J&K and senior officers of various departments attended the meeting. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The Phase-1 of the Srinagar Transport System involves navigation in specific stretches of River Jhelum and Dal Lake through motor boats and motorized Shikara service.
Detailed deliberations were held in regard to the mandate and role of various departments and authorities including I&FC, Tourism, Transport, R&B and PDD besides SMC, LAWDA & J&KSWRRA in operationalization of the Water Transport System.
