CS reviews implementation of RGGVY-II

JAMMU, Dec 24: State Level Standing Committee headed by Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey today discussed the implementation of RGGVY-II in the State at a high level meeting here.
The Committee approved the Detailed Project Reports in respect of 22 districts of Jammu and Kashmir including Leh and Kargil for submission to Government of India for funding.  The total cost of the scheme is projected at Rs.2770 crore for electrification of 9524 habitations with a population of 100 or more.  The total population to be covered under the scheme is 2.50 lakh including 1119 lakh BPL households.
With the implementation of the RGGVY-II, 94% habitations and 98% households will be covered under the electrification programme under RGGVY-II, expected to be completed within two years.
Chief Secretary directed for constituting a State Level Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, PDD to ensure that project implementation starts at the earliest.  He also directed that similar Committees be constituted at Divisional and District Level to be headed by the respective Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the complaints regarding damaged transformers related to RGGVY-I and instructed the department to take appropriate measures in this regard.
Principal Secretary, PDD Arun Kumar Mehta apprised the meeting that RGGVY-I in most districts has been completed including Anantnag, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri and in remaining districts it is in the final stage of completion. He said any spill over under RGGVY-I will be taken up in RGGVY-II.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Revenue, Secretary Forest, Chief Engineer EM&RE Jammu, CEO JKEDA, Director General Codes, Addl. Secy. PDD, Director Planning, PDD, Addl. Secretary Planning & Development and T. S. C. Bosh, General Manager, REC, New Delhi.
