NEW DELHI, Mar 7: Crude oil futures prices rose by 1.67 per cent to Rs 6,220 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March gained Rs 102, or 1.67 per cent, to Rs 6,220 per barrel, with a business turnover of 5,069 lots.
The oil for April delivery also moved up by Rs 100, or 1.63 per cent, to Rs 6,234 per barrel in a turnover of 364 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asian trade ahead of the release of a key monthly US jobs report while traders keep an eye on the crisis in Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for April delivery advanced by 19 cents to USD 101.75 a barrel in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange. (AGENCIES)
