NEW DELHI, June 13: Crude oil futures prices today fell by 0.40 per cent to Rs 5,538 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June shed Rs 22 or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 5,538 per barrel in 7,348 lots.
Similarly, oil for July delivery moved down by Rs 21, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 5,571 per barrel in 983 lots.
Meanwhile, crude oil for July delivery shed 37 cents to USD 95.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Analysts said a weak trend in Asian trade after a surprise rise in US crude stockpiles mainly put pressure on crude oil prices at futures trade here. (PTI)
