JAMMU, Aug 26: Crucial for both National Conference and Congress, the floor test for the post of Chairman, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, will be conducted at 11 am tomorrow at Conference Hall, Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan told the Excelsior that he has fixed date and timing for the floor test as 11 am on August 27 and accordingly requested all 30 Councilors to attend the meeting.
LAHDC, Kargil Chairman Haji Hanifa Jan and his four Executive Councilors had knocked the doors of High Court here against the DC Kargil order withdrawing their powers and fixing date for election of new Chairman following withdrawal of support to the LAHDC by an Independent Councilor, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan.
The High Court had ordered the floor test.
The DC Kargil, who acts as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the Council, will forward details of the result of floor test to Ladakh Affairs Department of the Government, which will submit the result to the High Court as per the latter’s direction.
Present Council headed by Hanifa Jan is backed by the National Conference. Jan had support of 16 Councilors but after withdrawal of support by Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, his Council and Opposition, backed by the Congress, were tied at 15 each.
