CRPF jawan dies of COVID, cases cross 700

JAMMU, Aug 2: A CRPF jawan died of COVID-19 in Jammu while cases in Jammu and Kashmir today again crossed 700. Ladakh reported 13 positives.
Lone casualty and 226 COVID cases were reported in Jammu division while Kashmir recorded 515 new cases.
A 34-year-old CRPF jawan hailing from Telangana and presently posted at 160 battalion CRPF at Chatha who was shifted to the hospital with gunshot wound tested positive for COVID-19 before post-mortem.
This has taken COVID toll in Jammu district to 1232 and Jammu division to 2344.
Among 226 COVID positive cases in Jammu division, 129 were logged in Jammu district followed by 25 in Ramban, 24 in Doda. 16 Rajouri, 14 Udhampur. seven Kathua, three each in Samba, Kishtwar and Reasi districts and two in Poonch.
Jammu and Kashmir now has 4846 active positive cases including 1663 in the Jammu region and 3183 in the Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 13 new COVID positive cases including 10 in Leh district and three in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 98 active positive cases—85 in Leh and 13 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 515 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest tally in last six months.
Srinagar recorded 239 cases, Baramulla 125, Budgam 42, Pulwama 14, Kupwara 38, Anantnag 14, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 5, Kulgam 20 and Shopian 3.
