BHADERWAH, Feb 5: To extend their civic action programme to the most deserving and underprivileged students living in far-off areas, 33 Battalion CRPF today sent 15 students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families of Bhaderwah to ‘Bharat Darshan’ tour.
The ten- day tour with the theme ‘From mountains to sea’ was flagged off by Prabhat Chandra Jha, CRPF DIG (Operations), Jammu North, along with Col D D Pandey, CO 4RR, ASP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh and CEO BDA Rajinder Kumar Khajuria from community hall Kotli.
Speaking on the occasion, A Padama Kumar, CO CRPF 33 Battalion said “The tour under civic action programme is primarily aimed at to give exposure to the most deserving but under privileged students living in mountains and for the purpose 15 students belonging to BPL families were drawn from different villages of Bhaderwah valley.”
“These students have never gone beyond Jammu and some of them are even moving first time outside Bhaderwah. For these students, it’s like a dream come true to move beyond hills to the coasts of Visakhapatnam,” Padma Kumar added.
“It’s heartwarming to see the excitement of the students, this will go a long way to expand their vision and overall development of their personality. For this noble gesture of CRPF, I as a teacher feel indebted to CRPF for giving my students this opportunity which otherwise they could have never afforded due to financial constraints,” said Arif Hamid Rana, renowned Educationist.
After flagging off, while speaking to reporters, DIG CRPF, Prabhat Chandra Jha said, “Visakhapatnam is the largest navy yard and our motive to take these underprivileged students there and other places including Delhi to expose them the development India has made and also let them understand different cultures, so that they can also feel an urge to compete and reach there to be a part of developed India.”
On this occasion, Vikas Singh, 2 I/C of 33 Bn CRPF, Sahil Gupta, Asst Comdt, Joseph Hrimai, Asst Comdt of 33 Bn CRPF were also present.
