JAMMU, July 27: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 80th Raising Day today all over the country.
Raised on 27 July 1939 in Neemuch (MP) as Crown Representative Police, this Force has displayed numerous examples of courage, patriotism and national service, in the past 80 years. From the first year of its inception, this Force started fulfilling responsibilities assigned to it.
In the year 1949, the Force was rechristened as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and has evolved today as a Force indispensable for the Internal Security of the nation.
In a series of events that were held throughout the day, the inaugural program was tribute to the martyrs of the Force wherein CRPF officers and personnel paid floral tributes to the martyrs at ‘Shaheed Smaarak’ at CRPF Group Centre Bantalab, Jammu.
The chief guest of the program, K Vijay Kumar IG CRPF J&K Zone apprised personnel about the glorious history of the Force and urged them to keep on working with full dedication, sincerity and commitment.
On this occasion, a painting competition was organized by Group Centre Family Welfare Centre between Montessori School and Kendriya Vidyalya. During the program, the chief guest also awarded trophies to the winner (76 Bn CRPF) and runner-up (121 Bn CRPF) QATs of the Ops Sector level Inter-Battalion QAT competition held in January 2019.
In the program organized at Group Centre Bantalab, Sarabjit Singh DIG CRPF Jammu Sector, SLC Khup DIG CRPF Hiranagar Range and Nitu DIG CRPF Jammu Range were also present.
CRPF Raising Day was also celebrated in Group Centre Hiranagar in which chief guest of the program, Abhay Vir Chauhan IG CRPF Jammu Sector paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the Force at ‘Shaheed Smaarak’.
Emphasizing upon the importance of trees and environmental balance, Abhay Vir Chauhan IG CRPF appealed to the officers and personnel to plant as many trees as possible.
On this occasion, Chandra Bhushan DIG CRPF, Sangeeta Chauhan Deputy Commandant and Ramniwas Tyagi Deputy Commandant were also present.
On the occasion of Raising Day, saplings were also planted at Sidhra based 166 Bn CRPF, the whole objective of which is environment protection and green earth.
Raising Day was also celebrated with full enthusiasm by other Units and Institutes based in Jammu region such as 38 Bn CRPF in Ismailpur, 84 Bn CRPF and 160 Bn CRPF in Chatha and 76 Bn CRPF in Chhanni Himmat.
