While down playing the incident of Pulwama attack, the DG said, ” You can not presume that miltants were on way to ‘repeat Pulwama’, but the quantum of arms, ammunition and explosives recovered from them is enough to understand that they were prepared to attack in big way anywhere in Kashmir or elsewhere.”
” With the timely and prompt action of the CRPF, J&K Police and other forces who took part in this operation, the big possible strike of militants was foiled and all the three armed terrorists were neutralized. Not only this, three OGWs including truck driver and cleaner were also nabbed”, he said.
While lauding the jawans and officers of the force for successful Nagrota operation, the Director General CRPF said that “zero tolerance” against terrorism is the national resolve.
“I have come here to congratulate our jawans and officers for the role they played on Friday in combat operation at Nagrota in which they neutralised three terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad,” Dr Maheshwari said.
“I want to assure the people of the country that we are committed to secure them in all aspects and capable to safeguard the nation,” the DG CRPF maintained.
Dr Maheshwari while patting the other agencies as well for maintaining synergy with CRPF which resulted into the successful operation said, ” Zero tolerance to terrorism is a national strategy and resolve and we are committed for that.”
“Those who were caught alive are being interrogated by different agencies and the investigation further can help us to reach to the conclusion,” the DG said and added that there will be no laxity on the part of security forces.
While responding to a question the DG CRPF said, investigations into the matter may unfold many things in the days to come. At this juncture, it would not be advisable to speak about their plan and reveal about connections, he added.
” I would only say that investigating agencies are doing their job better. With the passage of time, all the things would come to limelight,” Dr Maheshwari added.
Responding to yet another question on lapse on the part of BSF and other agencies in Hiranagar sector from where militants believed to have managed to infiltrate, the DG said, ” All the security agencies are doing their job with satisfaction and are proactive in their approach. They are committed and trying their best to prevent them (militants) from sneaking into this side. They keep trying different ways to breach the Security Grid. We do not wait for an incident to happen, but are continuously making attempts to find and neutralize them,” the DG maintained.
” We are in a conflict zone and nothing can be ruled out. We need to remain on high alert. Various agencies are working together and all forces are doing their job with responsibility and dedication,” Dr Maheshwari said while replying to another query of a media-person.
While referring to the incident, he said as the J&K Police cop opened the door of the truck, the militants fired. The Armed CRPF men were the first to take the lead and killed one of them on the spot. He said the other force men and officers arrived on the spot immediately and after long operation killed the two other militants as well. He said that the force men involved in the operation will be awarded suitably.
