JAMMU, July 7: Crime Branch Jammu has registered an FIR against an Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K Police for committing fraud by changing entries in his service record.
The Crime Branch team after conducting preliminary enquiry registered FIR No. 28/2017 under sections, 420, 467, 468, 471, RPC on June 6, 2017 against ASI Maqbool Ahmed Sheikh, son of Lassa Sheikh, resident of Sarkoot in Kishtwar for tampering his service record by changing his date of birth from 22-09-1952 to 1958 and consequently has availed the benefits of extended age of retirement through fraudulent means.
The ASI tried to take undue benefit for himself, thus causing loss to the state exchequer.
A complaint in this regard was received wherein, it has been alleged that one Maqbool Ahmed Sheikh, son of Lassa Sheikh, resident of Sarkoot Kishtwar working as Assistant Sub-Inspector in J&K Police with a criminal and dishonest intention tampered his service record by changing his date of birth from 22-09-1952 to 1958 and further that all the colleagues and even the juniors of the said ASI Maqbool Ahmed Sheikh have already retired from the services during the year 2010-2012 and he has drawn extra salary for about six years and even got one extra promotion.
On verification, the allegations were found correct, resulting in the registration of the instant FIR and investigation of the case has been taken up.
