CPMF pensioners demand removal of pay disparity

JAMMU, Jan 10: Central Para Military Force (CPMF) pensioners held a meeting under the chairmanship of RL Dogra, Assistant Commandant at Bawa Palace, Shakti Nagar, here today.
In the meeting, the participants said there is a wide disparity in the pensions of CPMF pensioners despite rendering more service than the armed force personnel (Army).
They said that the defence pensioners are getting higher pension than senior rank retirees of CPMF, which they termed great injustice with them.
“The CPMF is guarding the entire stretches of the borders bounded by India except limited part of J&K LoC which is under Army’s responsibility. The CPMF is also fighting shoulder to shoulder with the enemy at International Borders including J&K IB, facing similar threats and challenges. So the disparity in pension is not justified,” expressed Dogra.
He said the Para Military Forces have been declared as Army Forces of the Union of India and administratively governed under these rules, adding that for the purpose of pension benefits they are treated under Central Civil Service Rules.
The members said that a civilian servant has to perform 8 hours duty, while CPMF jawans have to perform the duty for 24 hours and 365 days in difficult conditions and the nature of their jobs is all together different, so CPMF pensioners deserve a better deal.
The senior members of the All J&K Ex-Central Para Military Force Welfare Rehabilitation Association who attended the meeting included Surjit Singh AC (SSB), Sat Pal 21C, Jaspal Assistant Commandant (BSF), Advocate YP Sharma (SSB), Arjun Singh (DC, CRPF), Thoru Ram, Mohd Majid, Ajit Singh, Rattan Lal, Ramesh Singh, Chain Singh and Prem Lal.
