NEW DELHI, Apr 7 : COVID-19 related grievances are being addressed promptly, on day-to-day basis, as a result of which the confidence level in public has increased, and is evident from the fact that while on the 1st of April when exclusive COVID-19 Dashboard was launched, the number of grievances received on it was 333, while within five days it has risen to 2,343 today.
This was disclosed here today by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh after a detailed and comprehensive review of the functioning of various Departments under the Ministry of Personnel, including Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare(DoPPW).
The Minister was informed that advisories have been issued to all the Ministries and Departments as well as State/Union Territory governments to ensure that the disposal of COVID-19 related public grievances is done on priority basis.  The disposal of grievances pertaining to issues like migrant labourers and essential commodities are being given highest priority.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated that the officials handling the public grievances are also attending to media tweets and reports on TV channels on issues pertaining to food requirements of migrant labourers and other concerns.  Daily reports on receipt/disposal, sources-wise and category-wise, are being further submitted to the Empowered Group of Ministers and Empowered Group of Officers.
As for the initiatives taken by the DoPT during the period of lockdown, Dr Jitendra Singh was informed about the task undertaken by “Grih Kalyan Kendras” to stitch the face masks. Every section of DoPT has identified the priority of work which shall be completed by the officials while working from home.
Dr Jitendra Singh was keen to check whether the department has smoothly distributed the monthly pensions.  He was informed that not only the pension amount had been appropriately transferred to the recipients but, in addition, approximately 4 lakh SMS messages had so far already been issued to pensioners informing about the precautions to be taken with respect to COVID-19 pandemic. The Department is also organising a tele-medicine consultation programme for 100 pensioners across India through video-conference.
