JAMMU: With eight new cases testing positive, the number of Coronavirus cases mounted to 70 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The media bulletin released by the government here said that in the Union Territory till date 17,677 number of travellers and persons in contact with suspected positive cases have been put under surveillance, 10694 in Home Quarantine (including facilities operated by Govt.), 65 in Hospital Isolation, 622 in Hospital Quarantine, 4109 in Home surveillance, 2187 completed their 28 days surveillance period.
It further said that 1,084 samples have been sent for testing of which 1,010 turned out to be negative, 70 tested positive (65 Active Positive, three recovered, two Deaths), four reports are awaited.
The bulletin said that eight new positive cases have been reported in UT comprising five from Jammu Division and three from Kashmir Division.
First COVID-19 Positive Case from Kashmir Division has fully recovered and has been discharged from the Hospital, it said.
The bulletin advised people to remain calm & not to panic as the prevention, containment and management of COVID-19 in the UT is being monitored at the highest level and necessary action to protect and safeguard the lives of people have been taken by the Government.
People are requested to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily.
Surveillance teams are conducting house to house contact tracing of positive cases, people are requested to cooperate with the team members.
General public is advised to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly, the bulletin said.
People should call on Covid-19 helpline numbers so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right health facility, if needed.
In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their door steps by calling on toll free No. 108. Pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll free No. 102, it added. (AGENCIES)
