COVID-19: To implement social distancing, Jammu Admn orders closure of shops

JAMMU: Barring chemist and grocery shops, Jammu Administration on Thursday, in view of coronavirus threat, has ordered closure of all shops.
District Magistrate Jammu, Sushma Chauhan, in exercise of her powers, this afternoon ordered that despite advisories to avoid gatherings, large number of people are still found in the market areas, thus in order to implement social distancing, all shops except Grocery, Chemist and Medical Shops shall be closed with immediate effect.
Ms Chauhan further said that selling perishable items shall also remain open like veggies, Fruit, Milk and related products.
Earlier in the morning, all religious places were shut for devotees to prevent large gatherings.
