JAMMU, Oct 18: Court has sought action taken report from SSP Jammu in complaint filed against SHO Gandhi Nagar and other Police officials.
Special Judge (Excise Magistrate), Jammu Omesh Sharma has sought the action taken report from SSP Jammu in a complaint filed by one Gobind Singh seeking registration of FIR against the SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Pankaj Sharma; PSI Majid and ASI Tirath Ram (both investigating officers posted at Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu).
In the complaint filed through his advocate Mohd Latif Malik, complainant Govind Singh has alleged that these Police officers at Gandhi Nagar Police Station set free an accused against whom two FIRs were registered
As per the complainant, accused Gurinder Singh Gill Alias Laddi was wanted by the Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in two different FIRs lodged by him involving non-bailable offences. Laddi was evading arrest since 2017 and Warrant of Arrest under Section 25 of the Police Act was also obtained by the Police from the Court on 03.10.2018.
Even as the accused was arrested by Police Station Nagrota and his custody was given to Gandhi Nagar Police Station, he was granted interim bail in FIR number 257/2021 only. However, the Police Station Gandhi Nagar did not arrest the accused Gurinder Singh in FIR number 14/2017 in which the warrants of arrest under section 25 of the Police Act was already issued and had not been executed.
Following this, the complainant submitted applications to SDPO South, Jammu, SSP Jammu and IGP Jammu seeking registration of FIR in this connection on 26.08.2022 but no action was taken.
Omesh Sharma, Excise Magistrate Jammu after hearing advocate Mohd Latif Malik, appearing for the complainant, issued directions to the SSP Jammu to submit action taken report on the complaint filed by Gobind Singh by or before October 26, 2022.
