Court grants 15 days remand of DySP, others

JAMMU, Jan 23: Special Judge NIA Jammu Subash C Gupta today granted 15 days police remand of DySP Devinder Singh and four others to the National Investigating Agency (NIA).
The other accused are Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah alias Naveed Baba, son of Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Irfan Safi Mir, son of Mohd Safi Mir,  Rafi Ahmed Rather, son of Ab Rashid Rather and Syed Irfan Ahmad alias Irfan, son of Syed Mushtaq Ahmed, all the residents of Shopian.
These persons have been booked under different sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act after they were found involved in ferrying two HM militants. DySP Devinder Singh had facilitated their travel for specific mission in pursuance to earlier hatched criminal conspiracy.

After going through the CD file, the Special Judge NIA observed, “the court is of the considered view that the custodial interrogation of the accused is imperative to facilitate the ongoing investigation”.
“The prayer made by the NIA seems genuine and justified. Hence, the application made by CIO NIA in the matter for remand  is  hereby allowed. The accused are remanded to police custody for 15 days”, the court said.
The CIO NIA was directed to arrange the medical examination of the accused persons, after every 48 hours during the remand period.
