JAMMU, Jan 14: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Puneet Gupta has framed corruption charges against Tarsem Raj, the then Assistant Director CAPD Udhampur, Bansi Lal and 10 others, who were involved in misappropriation of 49800 litres of kerosene oil.
The other accused persons are Sham Singh, Parkash Singh, Mangat Ram, Ajay Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Madan Singh, Tej Ram, Yog Raj, Tarun Kumar and Janak Raj, all the dealers of CAPD Department.
Though the distribution of kerosene oil at tehsil level should have been done through concerned TSO, in the present case the allocation of entire quota to the dealers was made by the then Assistant Director CAPD Udhampur T R Padha himself by passing the jurisdiction of TSOs during the month October, 2008.
During the course of investigation it came to fore that dealers were allegedly indulging in illegal trade of kerosene oil, which was otherwise released by the department for the distribution among the people to meet their domestic demand.
Accordingly, Crime Branch team raided the dealers and sealed the kerosene oil and got disposed of through the District Collector of Jammu and Udhampur as per the provisions of Essential Commodities Act. All the accused persons were booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, 3/7/8 Essential Commodities Act and Section 409, 406 and 120-B RPC.
