Court frames charges in dowry death case

JAMMU, Aug 11: In the much publicized mysterious death of Jammu girl at Nepal, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, R S Jain today framed charges under Section 34/498-A/306 RPC against Sanjeev Kumar Sharma husband, Kewal Krishan Sharma, father-in-law and Dwarika Sharma, mother-in-law of deceased Romika Sharma.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “there is sufficient material on record for framing charge against all the accused persons for the offences under Section 498-A/306/34 RPC”.
“There is material on record to prima facie show that the accused demanded dowry items from deceased Romika Sharma and treated her with cruelty and unable to bear the cruel treatment, Romika Sharma on July 14, 2003 committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of the building belonging to Rainbow Camera Industries Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu, Nepal”, the court said.
