Court denies bail in NDPS case

JAMMU, Feb 4: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain today rejected the bail application of one   Ahmed Raza who was arrested by the police in smuggling of charas.
According to the police case that on December 6,2014 at D.C. Office Crossing, Jammu, Incharge police station Pir Mitta, Jammu during checking stopped motocycle No.1570/JK02AQ being driven by accused Ahmed  Raza and from the motorcycle underneath the seat a plastic bag containing charas weighing 225 grams was recovered. FIR No.97/2014 for offence u/s 8/20 NDPS Act was registered against the accused and on conclusion of investigation, the challan was filed against the accused.
While rejecting the bail application of the accused, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain after listening to Advocate RK Bhatia appearing for the applicant whereas PP Shabir Choudhary appearing for the state observed that keeping in view the enactment of the NDPS Act is to curb the ever increasing menace of drug peddling and illegal sale and its ramifications on the society and the youth in particular and cause for increase in the crime rate, nature and seriousness of accusation against the applicants, the character of evidence, circumstances which are peculiar to the accused, the larger interest of the society and State, I am of the view that no good ground is made out by the petition and rejected the same.
