Court convicts narco smuggler under NDPS Act

SAMBA, Aug 26: Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Samba convicted notorious narco supplier “Amandeep” of Bari Brahmana in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case and sentenced him to two months imprisonment and fine of rupees 10,000.00.
The accused namely Amandeep, son of Rattan Lal of Doullian tehsil, Bari Brahmana district Samba was arrested on April 27 in 2018 by a team of Police Station (PS), Vijaypur during patrolling duty near Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur. During frisking, 53 gms charas wrapped in maize cover was recovered from his possession, police said.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No.61/2018 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station, Vijaypur against the accused and investigation started.
During the trial, the Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Samba found sufficient evidences on file connecting the accused with crime. The prosecuting officers/staff did exemplary work, exhibited professionalism, displayed sincerity and secured conviction in the court of law which will go a long way in curbing narco smuggling and supplying in Samba district. The accused has been convicted for the commission of offence under section 8/20 NDPS Act. The accused is sentenced to undergo two months imprisonment with fine of Rs 10,000.00.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh has appreciated the professional work of Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, the then SHO Police Station (PS), Vijaypur & SDPO Vijaypur and the prosecution officers and staff which led to the conviction of the accused in the case.
