JAMMU, Apr 14: A couple was killed and their son injured after a rashly driven truck hit their motorcycle at Gangyal area of Jammu district today.
The deceased have been identified as Balkrishan Vishwakarma Badai (45), son of Lachu Vishwakarma, originally from Chhattarpur in Madhya Pradesh and presently residing at Model Town Gangyal, and his wife Anita Vishwakarma (40). Their son Rajendra Vishwakarma (22) sustained injuries in the accident.

Officials said the accident took place near HDFC Bank at Gangyal when the truck bearing registration number JK21-1677 hit the motorcycle, resulting in the on-the-spot death of the couple.
They said the injured youth was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors stated that he is out of danger.
Officials said after completion of post-mortem formalities, the bodies were also handed over to the legal heirs.
A police officer said the truck involved in the accident has been seized, while the driver fled from the spot.
He said, “A case under the relevant sections of law is also being registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation has been taken up to arrest the absconding driver.”
