Floral tributes paid to Shaheed Rajinder Singh

KATHUA, June 9: Army veterans, prominent citizens and family members of Kargil Shaheed Rajinder Singh paid floral tributes to the martyr in a programme held at Rajender Chowk, Nagrota Pretha today.
On the occasion, Col (retd) Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman, Kathua hoisted the National Flag followed by patriotic songs. The participants raised slogans ‘Shaheed Rajinder Singh Amar Rahe’, ‘Bhartiya Sena Zindabad’, etc.
Besides, Col Mahan Singh, Capt (retd) Des Raj, Capt (retd) Nek Ram, Capt (retd) Balwant Kharmatia, Capt (retd) Vijay Singh, Hav (retd) Hoshiar Singh, Sarpanch, Plakh, Pritam Singh, Sarpanch, Pretha, Maya Devi, Arvind Gupta, Biku Verma and Ex-servicemen from adjoining villages were present and paid tributes to the Kargil martyr.
Speaking on the occasion, Col. Mahan Singh said that the country will never forget the supreme sacrifice made by the valiant soldiers of Indian Army. The indebted nation has all along been bowing their heads with respect and deep esteem for the sacrifices made by soldiers, he said, adding that martyrs will continue to inspire generations for serving the nation in whatever capacity they can.
The DDC Chairman said the martyrdom of brave-hearts reminds the crucial need of working towards peace and striving for shaping a better future for humanity. “The biggest tribute to great heroes is to create a world wherein people live in peace and harmony. At the same time, the civilized nations had to stand united for defeating the scourge of terror and violence that has emerged as biggest challenge to the global community. “We salute the martyrdom of Kargil Shaheed Rajinder Singh and bow before the courage of his family”, Col Mahan said.
Rajinder Singh, son of Karan Singh, while serving with 13 JAK Li Regiment of Indian Army was part of attack party led by Capt Amol Kalia to re-capture a strategic peak named 5232 in Batalik Sector of Kargil. Party of all 14 brave heart of Indian Army including Shaheed Rajinder Singh were martyred in the operation. Later, a reinforcement captured the post.
