Chairperson DDC visits GMC, inspects COVID measures

RAJOURI, June 9: Chairperson, District Development Council, Advocate Chowdhary Naseem Liaqat today visited Government Medical College (GMC) here and took a detailed review of arrangements put in place for COVID-19 patients and containment efforts by hospital authorities.
Members DDC, Sain Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Iqbal Malik, ADDC Rajouri Pawan Parihar, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Rajouri and doctors also accompanied the Chairman during his visit.
Chairman took first hand appraisal from GMC and Associated Hospital authorities and Medical Superintendent Dr Mehmood Chowdhary about the available healthcare infrastructure and other facilities for COVID patients.
At the oxygen generation plant, the Chairman was apprised that oxygen generation plant of 1000 LPM capacity is functional while another plant of 1000 LPM capacity is to be installed shortly while two other OGPs of 1000 LPM capacity each are in the pipeline. Oxygen cylinders with D type specification totaling 311, B type totaling 138 and 15 of H type specification are available in the Hospital while 100 oxygen concentrator of 5 litre capacity and 40 concentrator of 10 litre capacity are available.
During his visit, the Chairman visited different wards of the hospital and met patients undergoing post COVID treatment.
While interacting with the media persons, the Chairman expressed his satisfaction about the overall arrangements put in place by the hospital administration and particularly about the availability of oxygen and appealed to the general public not to fell prey to the shear scaremongering by different elements by airing exaggerated rumours of lack of oxygen. He appealed to general public to get jabs of vaccine at an earliest.
