JAMMU, June 9: Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli and Thakrie Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 78 cattle and arrested seven persons.
As per police sources, on reliable information, teams from Police Stations Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli laid nakas at different locations and intercepted six different vehicles bearing registration numbers JK20A-4134, JK02AC-6922, JK02AB-7409, JK02B-3243, JK02CK-0452 and JK02AD-6157.
During checking, police team rescued 58 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested six persons, who were identified as Mohammad Sadeeq, son of Mohammad Shafi of Kans Khass District Reasi, Mohammad Saleem, son of Abdul Rashid of Kans Khass District Reasi, Mohammad Sharif, son of Mohammad Yaqoob of Gatro Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu, Murad Ali, son of Naik Alam of Kandayala, Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Mohammad Mirza of Arnas District Reasi and Mohammad Mehroof, son of Fisha of Kans Khass District Reasi.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket and SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Devinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Thakrie led by PSI Ankit Sharma laid a naka and apprehended a man along with 20 bovine animals, which he was smuggling towards Kashmir without any permission or any other documentation from concerned authority.
The arrested person was identified as Arshad Hussain, son of Abdul Rashid of Gundna District Doda.
A case under FIR Number 129/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation started.
