NEW DELHI: As the toll from the Novel Coronavirus crossed 800 in China, India stepped up monitoring of the virus outbreak, putting 9,452 people under community surveillance in 32 states/UTs.
Containment and prevention activities are being taken up on utmost priority in the country, where three cases have tested positive, all in Kerala.
All the states are continually strengthening their rapid response teams to counter any eventuality. Of the 1,510 samples tested, 1,507 samples were found negative, a Health ministry release here said.
So far, 1,818 flights and 1,97,192 passengers have been screened at 21 airports. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is extending all the possible support to the States/UTs in order to combat the situation arising from nCoV, it said.
Universal screening has been extended to all flights from Singapore and Thailand, besides Hong Kong and China which too is on at earmarked aero-bridges.
The screening of passengers is being undertaken in all 21 airports, international seaports and border crossings. (AGENCIES)
