Top officials of security agencies attend

JAMMU, Nov 25: A high level security review meeting was held here today with participants from the Army, police and other security and intelligence agencies discussing and deliberating the prevailing situation across the Jammu region.
The Core Group security review meeting was co-chaired by General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 16 Corps Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain and Director General of Police R R Swain and comes close on the heels of a major encounter in the border district of Rajouri that left five Army bravehearts and two terrorists dead.
The Jammu-based white Knight Corps said the meeting was attended by senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces, intelligence agencies and police along with senior Army officials.
Matters pertaining to the security situation, sharing of intelligence and synergy in the Jammu region were discussed and deliberated during the meeting, it wrote on X.
The officers after highlighting the security challenges were reported to have finalized the counter strategy against terrorists that includes maintaining the highest level of synergy among all security agencies and building more human and technical intelligence to eliminate the remaining terrorists in Poonch-Rajouri range.
Northern Command chief Lt General Upendra Dwivedi had yesterday said that 20 to 25 terrorists are still operating in Rajouri-Poonch as the districts were linked to highways.
“A strategy was finalized to generate inputs about suspicious movements in Rajouri and Poonch areas. All security agencies will maintain synergy and launch intelligence based operations while ensuing zero collateral damage,” the source said, adding that “the meeting discussed that all security agencies will step up the vigil on highways and areas closer to forests.”
