Copper futures rise on global cues, spot demand

NEW DELHI, Sept 15:  Copper futures traded 0.56 per cent higher at Rs 359.60 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid firming trend overseas and rising spot demand.
In futures trade, copper for delivery in November rose Rs 2, or 0.56 per cent, at Rs 359.60 per kg in a business turnover of 882 lots at Multi Commodity Exchange.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month February next year edged up by Rs 1.55, or 0.43 per cent, at Rs 365.20 per kg in 11 lots.
Market analysts said a better trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and pick-up in demand at domestic spot markets influenced copper futures here.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months was little changed at USD 5,305.50 a tonne at LME. (PTI)
