Copper futures fall on weak global cues

NEW DELHI, Apr 22:  Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by Rs 1.80, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 409.25 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell Rs 1.80, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 409.25 per kg in business turnover of 162 lots.
The metal for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 1.55, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 406.55 per kg in 1,590 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues as gains in the dollar reduced metal’s appeal as an alternative investment.
Globally, copper fell 0.50 per cent to USD 6,615.50 a tonne. (PTI)
