RAMBAN, May 7: Six persons including a police cop were killed and 11 others injured in road accident here today.
As per police sources, late last night, an Eco Van bearing registration number was on its way to Senabati (Paristan) from Ramban, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into 200 feet deep gorge at Pingloga, resulting into serious injuries to eight persons. The accident took place due to negligent and rash driving by the driver.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals started rescue operation.
All the injured persons were rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ukhral, where doctors declared three injured persons as brought dead. Later, the five injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Ramban for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Milap Singh (45), son of Amar Nath of Bass, Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban, Keshav Ram (45), son of Brij Lal of Hella Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban and Raju (24), son of Shanker Dass of Gram Risartan Tehsil Bhagwa District Ramban.
The injured have been identified as Kalyan Singh (44), son of Sham Singh of Hella Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban, Rayaz Ahmed (35), son of Mohi-ud-Din of Chulli Senabati Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban, Kartar Singh (55), son of Sant Ram of Hella tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban, Flour Singh (40), son of Mahant Singh of Hella Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban and Hari Om, son of Dharam Singh of Hella Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban.
Meanwhile, two persons including a police cop were killed while six others were injured when the Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK19-3127 they were traveling in from Sumber to Ramban fell down into deep gorge near Kanga.
The deceased have been identified as Police Constable Bittu Ram, posted at Police Station Dharamkund, a resident of Sangaldan and Nek Ram, son of Duni Chand of Champa Batote, District Ramban. The wreath laying ceremony of the cop killed in accident will be held at District Police Lines (DPL) Ramban tomorrow.
The injured persons have been identified as Darshan Singh, son of Harnam Singh of Harog, his wife Deepa Devi, Mohammad Qayoom, son of Ali Mohammad of Maitra, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Roshan Din of Sumber, Ranjeet Singh (Follower in JKP), son of Durga Dass of Sangaldan and Mohammad Aslam, son of Bashir Ahmed of Sumber.
However, a motorcyclist identified as Sandeep Singh (24), Mohan Singh, a resident of Trlimajra District Ramban was killed on the spot when his bike bearing registration number JK19-1701 was hit by an unknown vehicle near Kela Morh area of the District Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Ramsoo, Dharamkund and Ramban Police Stations and investigation started.
When contacted, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar regarding the reason behind the Eco Van and Tata Sumo accidents, he told that the accidents took place due to negligent and rash driving by the drivers. “Action will be taken against the guilty as investigation is going on”, he asserted.
