Srinagar, Jan 22: Two persons including a cop were injured in Kashmir while security forces have intensified their vigil in Valley especially in and around Srinagar following inputs of militant movement.
Militants attacked the Police Station near Azad Jung area of the old town Baramulla with a grenade at around 6.40 pm resulting in injuries to a policeman who was performing his duty as sentry of the Police Station. The injured sentry identified as Mohammad Rafiq has been hospitalized. In retaliation, cops fired several rounds. However, there was no immediate report of any casualty so far.
A police spokesman said here that militants hurled a grenade on Police Station Baramulla this evening, resulting in minor injuries to a police constable identified as Rafiq Ahmad resident of Devar, Lolab who was performing his duties at the gate. The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
“Immediately after the attack, police along with security forces cordoned off the area and search to nab the terrorists is going on”, the spokesman said.
Militants hurled a grenade on CRPF party near Khrew Chowk in Pampore area of South Kashmir which exploded on the road side. In the attack, a civilian Mohammad Shafi Bhat, 50, son of Sanaullah Bhat of Kadlibal Pampore sustained splinter injuries and was hospitalized.
Militants late today afternoon attacked an SOG vehicle at Lassipora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir. However, in the attack, no one was reported injured.
Soon after the attacks, police, CRPF and Army launched searches to nab the attackers.
In the meantime, security forces have intensified their vigil in Srinagar and its outskirts after inputs about militant movement.
