SRINAGAR, Dec 7: The Contractors Association president, Kangan, Ghulam Rasool Ganai today said that with various divisions of Irrigation, PHE and PDC remaining headless for a long time the people as well as contractors are facing lot of hardships.
Ganai has made an appeal to Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha seeking his immediate intervention in the matter and urged him to issue directives to the concerned authorities to fill up the vacant posts of engineers in various divisions.
He said the official work is suffering a lot in these divisions as one Executive Engineer in Hydraulic Wing is looking after two divisions while in Power Development Corporation (PDC) one Executive Engineer who is officially posted as Technical Officer (TO) to Chief Engineer is looking after four Divisions.
He said this way the official work has suffered a lot in these offices and general public as well as the contractors are also put to many hardships as files are piling up on tables for days together and the Executive Engineers who have to look after many divisions are unable to do justice to their work.
Ganai said the Irrigation Division, Ganderbal is looked after by Executive Engineer, Flood Control Division, Srinagar while Executive Engineer, Water Works Division, Srinagar is also looked after by Divisional Engineer, Master Plan Division, Srinagar. Moreover, the Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal is without Executive Engineer since July this year after the retirement of then Executive Engineer. He said Technical Officer (TO) to Chief Engineer, PHE Kashmir was given additional charge of the Division but he too went on leave later and presently there is no body to look after the Division.
This being the important division which is even responsible to make water supply arrangements up to Baltal is functioning without Executive Engineer, he added.
Ganai said besides, in Power Development Corporation (PDC) one Executive Engineer who is also working as TO to Chief Engineer, New Ganderbal is holding additional charge as Executive Engineer of four more divisions including Executive Engineer of Division First and Division IInd of New Ganderbal, Executive Engineer, Civil Maintenance, Division, Upper Sindh Hydel Project II (USHP), Kangan and Civil Maintenance, Sindh Projects Division Kangan.
