Armed Forces Flag Day celebrated

JAMMU, Dec 7: Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and zeal.
All the three NCC units of GDC Kathua, 4 J&K NCC Battalion, 2nd J&K Girls Battalion and 1st J&K NCC Naval Wing celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day to commemorate the memory of those soldiers who sacrificed their life in honour and defence of our country. The drive was launched to collect the funds/ donations from the public which would be used for the welfare of Veer Naris, Widows of veterans, disabled serving soldiers and their dependents. All the faculty members, students and people around the college donated money to the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund”. The Cadets also collected fund from DC Office Kathua. The whole drive was launched under the guidance of Prof Raj Kiran Incharge Principal of the College.
To commemorate the Armed Forces Flag Day, the NCC Units (Boys & Girls) of 2 J&K Battalion NCC Jammu organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with District Hospital Udhampur. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Prof Subhash Chander Sharma, Principal of the College, under the supervision of Dr KC Dogra Chief Medical Officer Udhampur. The cadets of NCC, Volunteers of NSS, students of Sports Department and the staff of the College donated 29 units of blood.
NSS, NCC, RRC, Department of Computer Science and IQAC GDC Bhaderwah organized pledge on National Flag Day. To start with the program, Prof SS Parihar presented the welcome address and read the pledge on the occasion. Presenting his views during the program, Dr KK Sharma, Principal of the College motivated and guided the students and the staff to excel not only in academics but also in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated by NCC Cadets of Government Degree College for Women Kathua. Cadets assembled in college premises in the presence of Principal of the college Dr MS Pathania, all the staff members and NCC Incharge of the college Dr Vaishno Devi and collected amount of Rs1700.
Armed Force Flag Day was celebrated in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST- Jammu, RS Pura campus. On this occasion, under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor, Prof JP Sharma, Dean, FVSc and AH, Professor MS Bhadwal enlightened the students about the significance of Flag Day celebration.
Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated at Zila Sainik Welfare Office Poonch where DDC Poonch Inderjeet and SSP Poonch Vinod Kumar were present along ex-serviceman and members of NCC. On the occasion, the teams were given the boxes for the collection to kick start the campaign.
