Srinagar, May 11 : Even as the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) filled various posts of the consultant doctors-referred to it by the Health and Family Welfare Department in 2019-last year, the candidates are still awaiting posting while as the entire process has already been marred by subsequent delays, particularly the verification by Police and CID.
As per details, there were at least 90 posts of consultant doctors in various posts referred to JKPSC which then subsequently kick-started the selection process and finally published the selection lists of various specialities on September 25, 2021.
However, since then, the process has been hitting repeated roadblocks as the candidates who have been selected in various specialities as consultant doctors continue to await posting despite figuring in the selection lists put out by the JKPSC.
Initially, after the selection list, the delay was caused due to time taken in the police and CID verification and then the subsequent slackness of the concerned department which continues so far.
It is to be noted here that the candidates who have figured in the selection lists have left their previous jobs and are now staring at the dark with no development in sight in this regard.
Pertinent to mention here that the majority of such candidates were already working in several parts of the country as well as outside the country; however, after their names figured in the selection list, they left their respective jobs hoping to witness early postings.
“HBut, nothing has happened in this regard so far even as we were told that it will be done soon,” one of the candidates told Excelsior.
Concerning the verification, the entire process has witnessed delay due to the more than stipulated time taken by the police and CID. Excelsior has been told that instead of Government set timeline concerning the verification-which is one month-the concerned wings of the Police Department took 4-5 months in getting the cases of those selected cleared.
Earlier, it was a norm that after selection list was put out by the JKPSC, it used to take nearly a month for the posting and then the necessary police verification used to take place soon after joining while the salary used to be disbursed only after the clearance.
All in all, since the selection list came out, nearly 8 months have passed and the concerned department is yet to take notice of the matter and direct for immediate posting of those who have been selected for various posts.
The candidates said that the new verification process appears to be causing unnecessary delays, with a result, the posts remain vacant despite being filled by the JKPSC, affecting the overall patient care.
Officials in the Health Department said that the file has been sent to the Secretariat for the necessary action and that they are awaiting the directions from the H&ME Department. However, it has been learned that the file has been sent to the Secretariat 3 months ago and since then, there has not been any headway.
