Be constructive, let peace prevail: Hamid tells opposition

JAMMU, Sept 10: Criticising opposition for not playing a constructive role, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former member J&K State Advisory Board for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today asked opposition to let peace prevail in Jammu and Kashmir.
‘Criticising even the welfare schemes or simplest of gestures by Government functionaries is nothing but seeking cheap publicity which is doing no good to the State’, he added.
He stated that Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is leaving no stone unturned to impress upon Central Government, all stakeholders and even those who matter in the State politics besides Members of Parliament to break ice with people of Kashmir and restore normalcy here, adding that at this crucial juncture when precious lives have been lost, property destroyed and normal life thrown out of gear opposition must behave responsibly which he believes is not happening.
Coming down heavily on opposition, Choudhary Hamid alleged that except few cosmetic moves it did nothing to save lives or restore peace. Instead of using this unrest for settling political scores had the opposition made few sincerest efforts things would not have gone this far. Be it visit of APD, CM’s appeal, Union Home Minister’s State visit or launching of Government’s schemes opposition had been picking up faults in every move which is unfortunate and uncalled for.
PDP leader alleged that those whose hands are in blood are trying to add fuel to fire and watch Kashmir burn from a distance which PDP will never allow to happen. The coalition is alive to people’s issues and committed to give its best. Terribly shaken by the programmes and policies of Government, opposition is trying to fume unrest amongst youth which is just bad. “Those killed or harmed are our own people and every possible effort is being made to bring an end to this unrest so that Jammu and Kashmir State could be brought back on rail of development’, he added.
There are massive development programme and policies awaiting implementation and both State and Central Governments are sure to translate their words into actions. Unlike past corrupt practices are not going on in the system of deliverance which is infuriating opposition who in turn wants unrest to continue for its self interest, he alleged and appealed people to understand this all and help restore normalcy in the state, he added.
