RAJOURI, Oct 10: The construction work of the Government Degree College (GDC) building at Budhal, is going on at a snail’s pace and the concerned authorities should speed up the same so that hundreds of students do not suffer due to lack of accommodation.
This was stated by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Darhal Ch. Zulfikar Ali in a statement issued here today.
Expressing serious concern over the slow pace of ongoing construction work of the building of GDC Budhal, MLA said that the funds to the tune of Rs 6 crore for it were released by Government of India in the year 2008 and in the year 2012, the then Higher Education Minister laid the foundation stone for the same, but till date the construction work of the building could not be completed for the reason best known to the Higher Education authorities and R&B Department.
A total of 9 blocks were to be constructed for the full-operational of GDC Budhal, but till today, not even a single block has been completed, he added.
He said that presently the classes are being run in the four rooms of Government Higher Secondary School, Budhal, adding that most of the streams could not be started till yet. Medical and non-medical streams are also non-functional, he stated.
Various times the matter was taken up with the Higher Education authorities and R&B Department for speeding up of the construction work of GDC Budhal building, but nothing has been done, which is forcing the students to leave their studies, he added.
