Construct roads, provide adequate water, power to people: Ex-MLA

RAMBAN, June 17: Former MLA Ramban and senior Congress leader, Ashok Kumar has urged the State Administration to improve the condition of roads and provide adequate water and power supply to the people of this constituency.
The Congress leader, who visited several villages in Dessa, listened to the public grievances and current problems faced by them in these far-flung area. Among the villages he visited were Ghari, Mangathatha, Gorkhan, Chanderbhutan, Bhatta, Kralan, Sars, Mothalu, Dramdhti, Jartund, Malan, Kunda and finally culminated his journey at Shankli on foot.
During his visit to various villages, Ashok strongly laid emphasis on construction of roads to connect all the villages. Terming connectivity as the key to overall development, he said, it will bring inclusive development of the rural masses and also strengthen the scope of tourism as Dessa which is the gateway to 36 beautiful ranges with lush green meadows. He also demanded that basic infra-structure for electricity should be installed at the earliest as people from Dessa are still living under extreme energy poverty. He said previously the electric poles installed by RGVVY Scheme have been completely damaged and no measures have been taken to restore them during in the last four years.
The Ex-MLA also highlighted the issue of non-payment of honorarium to Village Defence Committee (VDCs) members. Since long. He said VDCs members have always played a crucial role in defending their villages in the turmoil that has engulfed the State in the last three decades. Considering the services rendered by them, the anomalies if any, in their remuneration, will be a great injustice to them in particular and the society in general, the former MLA remarked.
