JAMMU, June 5: The Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ), a social organization has demanded that Government should construct road up to Shri Amarnath shrine.
In a joint press statement here today Kuldeep Kumar Rao and Ram Singh Chauhan, active members of NGO while reacting to the denial of State Government to construct highway for Amarnath pilgrims under the pretext of damage to the Forest & Environment, said that those talking of forest & environment forget that it is the result of un-reparable damage caused to the Forests in the Valley which eventually became the sole cause of unprecedented floods taking huge toll of life & property in 2014.
Had our Valley based politicians and so called leaders ever thought of this havoc, they would have propagated the pros and cons of the damage to forests & environment. They further said that no doubt the damage to the forests on Mughal road is far greater than the proposed Baba Amarnath highway; it can be of great importance for promoting religious pilgrimage in the Valley.
“Why the BJP & Valley centric leadership of Coalition Government is silent over it, is beyond one’s imagination when it is of great benefit for Valley as also other parts of the country? We feel that in the name of religion certain elements want to keep the pot boiling, keeping their political shops open by misleading the common people,” they maintained.
As regards potential of horticulture, sericulture, floriculture & tourism in Jammu division, the duo said that sadly the leadership who cry hoarse about rights and deprivation of Jammu, have miserably failed in establishing the impact of these sectors in high reaches of Jammu division in general and Chenab valley in particular.
