SAMBA, Mar 1: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu Manjit Singh has accused the Delimitation Commission of undermining representation to the marginalized section of society to benefit BJP.
Addressing a public meeting here, Manjit Singh said that the people are disappointed with the draft report which was presented against the wishes of the people and even after the objections from various sections of society they were relequent to consider the popular demands of the people.
“With their report, it seems they want to clearly support a political party before the polls to ensure their victory in the upcoming assembly elections which are yet to be announced,” he said.
He said that “The Suchetgarh constituency was restored following immense pressure even from within the BJP. Since the Commission was unmoved with objections from various districts, it appears they want to favour BJP.”
In these circumstances, he said, “The Commission should take into consideration objections filed by different sections and take a view on them accordingly without favouring any political party.”
He said that the border villages along International Borders were left without any representation in assembly.
“Certain assembly seats were reserved for no reason but to create division in one section of the society to benefit the other,” he added.
He further said that it was unfortunate on part of the Commission that despite hearing voices of concern from various districts, they did nothing nor have they visited every district.
