VIJAYPUR, Sept 13:  One- day convention of Congress workers was organized here today by senior Congress leader Arun Sharma while former Minister and CLP leader in Upper House, Jugal Kishore Sharma, was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore exhorted the party workers to leave no stone unturned for further strengthening the party and spreading its policies and programmes. He stressed that only Congress can deliver a good, efficient and accountable Government in the country as well in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also threw light on the history of Congress party and said that the Congress leaders from the day of the party’s origin have been sacrificing their lives for the sake of nation.  “Congress is the only party which is secular and does not believe in caste, creed and colour,” he added.
Ex-MLC Subash Gupta, who also spoke on the occasion, strongly criticized BJP for making compromises for the sake of power. He alleged that the saffron party has forgotten the interests of Hindus for which the people of Jammu region had voted for it during the last Assembly and Parliament elections.  The BJP has fully surrendered before alliance partner PDP and this was evident on the issue of AIIMS, imposition of 12.5 percent Tax on Chopper service for Mata Vaishno Devi and Mata Machail,” he alleged.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Sharma highlighted several local issues and drew attention of the Government towards plight of border inhabitants, who have been subjected to continuous firing from across the border.  He alleged ever since the formation of BJP-PDP Government in the State, the developmental works have been stopped while general people were suffering badly. “Under the dynamic leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Gulam Nabi Azad, Congress will return to power once again for real `Acche Din’, he added.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included; Capt Baldev Chand, Rajesh Kuamr, Dr  Ram Murti, Ved Raj, Om Parkash Mahasha,  Onkar Singh,  Sumiter Singh, Pumy Choudhary, Baisakhi, Bachno Devi, Rani Devi, Raj Kumar, Dinesh Singh, Raj Kumar Verma, Janak Raj and  Satish Gupta.
